Helen Malatek Hahn, 106, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa died Thursday, February 27, 2025. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Burial: Czech National Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids assisted the family.
Survivors include her son, Donald Sipe (Mary) of Cedar Rapids, and Michael (Gail) Sipe of La Jolla, California; several grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Robert, George, Margaret and Dorothy; son, Eric Hahn; nephews, Vernon, Tom and Jeff Malatek.
Helen was born on December 22, 1918, the daughter of Rudolph and Catherine (Sheridan) Malatek on a farm south of Ely, Iowa.
She married Leonard Sipe, and the couple later divorced. Helen married Richard E. Hahn on January 24, 1953. She worked at Collins Radio during WWII, Northwestern Bell and Armstrongs Department Store until retirement. She was a member of Asbury Methodist Church, the National Czech Slovak Museum & Library, and the Czech Heritage Foundation.
