Helen Mae Sillick, 101, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away at Terrace Glen Village in Marion, Iowa, on Jan. 8, 2022.
Helen was born in Burlington, Iowa, on Sept. 23, 1920, the daughter of Herbert Earl and Virginia Alice (Fauber) Roseberry. She married Vernon Asher Sillick on August 28, 1943 in Burlington. After moving to Cedar Rapids with Vernon, Helen worked for Northwestern Bell Telephone Co. for over 30 years, while raising five children. After retirement, along with indulging in her lifelong love of reading, she became an accomplished ballroom dancer and watercolor painter. She will be remembered for her grace and quiet strength.
Helen is survived by her brother, Donald Birck of Burlington, Iowa; daughter, Ardis Sillick of Iowa City, Iowa; two sons, Kevin Sillick and Brian Sillick, both of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; two granddaughters, Teresa (Mike) Bailey of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Corrine Sillick of Denver, Colo.; two grandsons, Scott Hepner of Center Point, Iowa, and Matthew Watson of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Vernon; two sisters, Dorothy Gerdom and Gladys Langer; daughter, Carol Hepner; son, Allen Sillick; and grandson, Ryan Sillick.
