Helen M. Mendenhall, 73, of Cedar Rapids, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 10, 2021, at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids.
Her Celebration of Life will be held at
5 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 19, at Springs of
Life Church Fourth Square Gospel in Cedar Rapids. Dawson Funeral Services of Olin is caring for her family.
Helen Marie was born on Oct. 19, 1947, in Cedar Rapids, to George Anthony and Helen Marie (Platt) Van Dee Kerkove. She graduated from St. Ludmila Catholic School. For many years, she worked as a TSA for the Cedar Rapids Airport. She also was employed at Souvenir Group making pens.
Helen had a very devoted relationship with God and enjoyed bible study. She was a loving mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was salt and light to all of those around her. Helen was loved and will be missed by everyone who knew her.
Those left to cherish her memories is her daughter, Alicia Kosman of Mount Vernon; four grandchildren, Christy Pate, Devin Burns, Kelsey Kosman and Josey Kosman; three great-grandchildren, Troy Cryder, Josiah Auston and Jeremiah Gardner; and her siblings, Emily Ramirez of Sioux Falls, S.D., Mildred McGuire of North English, Ann Berstler of Marengo, George Van Dee of Cedar Rapids, Florence Moellers of Cedar Rapids, Sarah Martens of Shellsburg and Carl Van Dee of Cedar Rapids.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Mark; and a son-in-law, John Kosman.
