Helen Louise Kopecky, 91, of The Views of Marion, passed away Tuesday March 5th, 2024. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home Thursday, March 14th from 5- 7pm. A private family service will be held at a later date.
Helen was born August 31, 1932, in Vinton, Iowa to John and Frieda (Vaupel) Epperson. She went to a one room country school through 8th grade and graduated from Lincoln High School, Vinton, Iowa in 1950. Helen worked at the Iowa Braille and Sight Saving School before moving to Cedar Rapids in 1952. She worked at Collins Radio for 31 years, retiring in December 1992. She married Ernie Kopecky on July 29, 1953, in Cedar Rapids.
Helen enjoyed gardening, jigsaw puzzles, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was an avid bowler and belonged to several leagues over the years. She was a member of Seventh Day Adventist Church in Cedar Rapids.
Helen is survived by her daughters; Barbara (Greg) Kerr, Marion, Cindy Kopecky, (Varun Sharma) Danbury, Connecticut, and Janet (Chad) Pealer , Cedar Rapids and Van Horne. Grandchildren Sophia and Zachary Pealer, and brother, Gerald Epperson, Cedar Rapids.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ernie, son Edward , and sisters Eleanor McElree and Elizabeth Boltz.
