Helen M. Kubalek, 71, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Monday, Jan. 16, 2017, at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 20, at Hrabak-Neuhaus Funeral Service in Belle Plaine with Deacon Joe Behounek officiating. Burial will take place in National Cemetery, Vining. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 19, at the funeral home and will continue one hour before the service on Friday.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.

Helen was born Sept. 8, 1945, to Leo and Mildred (Cjeka) Posekany on the family farm near Haven, Iowa. After graduation from South Tama High School in 1963, Helen helped out on the family farm. In 1968, she married Larry Kubalek and then the couple moved to Cedar Rapids, where they raised their three children. Helen worked at Rockwell Collins, followed by Linn County Abstract for 30 years.
She was a member of Cedar Rapids' Patrick J. Shanahan VFW Post 788 and the American Legion Auxiliary.
Helen is survived by her husband, Larry Kubalek of Cedar Rapids; children, Leland (Gina Rotenburger) of Danville, Iowa, and James Kubalek and Jennifer Miranda-Perez, both of Cedar Rapids; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brother, Charles (Charlene) Posekany of Brooklyn; sisters, Jo (Dean) Degreve of Ely and Mary (Jeff) Gropper of Chelsea; sister-in-law, Marcia Lannom; and many more loving family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
