Helen Kester, 63, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Wednesday, June 1, 2022. A visitation will be held from 2 to 3 p.m. Wednesday, June 8, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service in
Cedar Rapids. A memorial service will follow place at 3 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
Helen was born June 11, 1958, in Pasadena, Texas, the daughter of Theodore and Marian (Pauley) St. John. She graduated from Jefferson High School and went on to attend Kirkwood Community College. Helen worked as a waitress until her retirement. She enjoyed playing with her dog outside in the fresh air. Helen loved sewing and watching Westerns.
Survivors include her children, Richard Kester and DJ Bean; sisters, Viola (Jerry) Bean and Kelly (Mike) Kleiman; brothers, John St. John, Kenny (Jodi) Ohlhauser, Henry Parish and Robert (Sandy) Ohlhauser; and ex-husband, Richard A. Kester.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Theodore and Marian St. John; siblings, Leonard (Denise) Ohlhauser; and Sandra St. John; and son, Darrel Caswell.
