HELEN DVORAK STONER
Marengo
Helen Dvorak Stoner, 93, of Marengo, formerly of Amana, passed away peacefully Tuesday, April 12, 2022, at Compass Memorial Healthcare, in Marengo. Per Helen's wishes, private graveside services will be held at Mt. Zion Cemetery, Mt. Vernon. Memorials may be contributed to the family. Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo, is assisting the family with arrangements.
Helen is survived by her daughter, Carol Smith of Marengo; four grandchildren, Justin Smith of Victor, Aaron (Abbie) Smith of Prior Lake, Minn., Mark Stoner of Victor and Amy Ann (Shane) Kriegel of Guernsey; seven great-grandchildren, Sullivan and Jaxon Smith of Victor, Wyatt and Griffin Smith of Minnesota and Kyler, Lincoln and Ayla Kriegel of Guernsey; and a brother, Richard (Phyllis) Dvorak of Cedar Rapids. She was preceded in death by her parents, E.V.R. and Agnes Dvorak; and a daughter, Susan.
Helen was born May 3, 1928, in Mount Vernon, the daughter of E.V.R and Agnes (Novak) Dvorak. She graduated from Mount Vernon High School with the Class of 1946. Following high school, she attended Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls. She married Darrell W. Stoner on June 1, 1949. Helen taught elementary education in Ely, Springville and Mount Vernon. She later became a bank teller at Farmers State Bank in Alburnett and Marion and Wells Fargo Bank in Mesa, Ariz.
