HELEN DRUMBARGER

Helen Drumbarger, 88, died Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2014, at Monticello Nursing and Rehab Center following an extended illness. Service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 25, at Goettsch Funeral Home in Monticello. Pastor
Darrell Larson will officiate at the service. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home in Monticello. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Monticello.

Surviving are her son, Ronald Drumbarger of Anamosa; grandson, Chad Drumbarger of Anamosa; granddaughter, Jennifer (Ted) Warden of Melbourne, Iowa; eight great-grandchildren; a sister, Dorothy (Tom) Kirby of Monticello; sister-in-law, Helen Dirks of Monticello; and two brothers-in-law, Harold Peters and Gilbert Nehl of Monticello.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a brother, Eugene Dirks; three sisters, Anna Kray, Wanita Nehl and LaVonne Peters; and twin great-granddaughters.
Helene Friederika Dirks was born Dec. 26, 1925, in Wayne Township, Jones County, Iowa, the daughter of William and Myrtle
Smith Dirks. She received her education in the rural schools of Wayne Township. Helen worked at the Anamosa Produce Co. and later at the Button Factory in Monticello. Helen was married to Robert Drumbarger. They lived in Hopkinton for many years. Helen worked at the Hopkinton Leader, where they printed the Coin Collector publication for the Lawrence Brothers of Anamosa.
Following the death of her husband, Helen made her home with her son, Ron, until she moved to the Monticello Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
The family would like to thank everyone at the Monticello Nursing an Rehabilitation Center, Jones Regional Medical Center and Above and Beyond Hospice for their wonderful care given to Helen.
