Helen M. Drehouse of Cedar Rapids entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2016, at Hallmark Care Center, Mount Vernon. Private burial: Mount Calvary Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Arrangements by Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids.
Helen was born in Cedar Rapids to William and Florence Martens. She attended St. Wenceslaus School. Helen married Don Drehouse and they had three children. She was employed at WMT, Stamats Publishing and then retired from United Fire and Casualty Co.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Vickie (Jim) Rutan, Bonnie (Wes) Helmick and Donnie Drehouse; grandchildren, Roonie Rutan, Jenny (James) Poli, Ian Jarosh and Jesse (Erika) Miller; and great-grandson, Julian Poli.
Helen enjoyed time spent with her family at the cabin. She was a great cook, who enjoyed gardening, playing the piano and dancing.
Helen was a devoted and loving mother who always put her family first. Helen had a sweet spirit, who will be remembered for her kindness, loving acceptance and unwavering faith. She will be dearly missed.
Per Helen's wishes, a private family service will be held.
