Heckmann, Zeta Mae
Zeta Mae Heckmann was born Dec. 15, 1939, to Arbie and Inez (Steiert) Heckmann near Postville, Iowa. She passed away Friday, July 12, 2013.
Zeta graduated from Postville High School in 1957. She moved to Cedar Rapids where she attended Barber College. She owned her own shop in the Kenwood area and was the co-owner of A-1 Barber Service in Hiawatha for many years. Zeta spent 20 years working for the Cedar Rapids Gazette before retiring.
She enjoyed being outdoors. She created beautiful flower gardens and loved to fish. After she retired, Zeta started running and lost about 100 pounds.
Zeta is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and Allan Kurash, Fort Atkinson; and grandchildren, Emily Kurash, Decorah, Ross Kurash, Cedar Falls and Ashley Kurash, Fort Atkinson.
Also surviving are her sisters, Ann Rose, Twila Haviland and Vicky Ney; and brothers, Donald, John, Leslie, Neal and Stanley.
She was preceded in death by siblings, Jean Schultz and Robert, Gary and Allan.
