Heather E. Strickel, 16, of Marion, died Tuesday, Aug. 16, 2016, at Mercy Medical Center. Memorial services: 3 p.m. Sunday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories, Cedar Rapids, where friends may call after 1 p.m. Sunday.
Survivors include her mother, Vanessa, and stepfather, Shawn Connors, of Marion; her father, Jeff Strickel of Florida; and a brother, Aaron Winebrenner of Coralville. She also is survived by the Allison, Brenner, Romans and White families.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents.
Heather was born Jan. 17, 2000, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Jeff and Vanessa Winebrenner Strickel. She attended Linn-Mar High School, where she was a member of the Anime Club, and middle school, where she was active in choir.
In her spare time, she enjoyed babysitting, watching anime and graphic design. She was a very talented artist. Heather had an infectious smile that would light up a room. She especially enjoyed the time spent with her friends and beloved family.
She will be remembered as a wonderful daughter, sister, niece and friend, whose memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved her.
A memorial fund has been established.
