HEATHER SCHOONOVER Marion Heather Suzanne Schoonover, 23, of Marion, was born Oct. 23, 1991, at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids, to Greg and Kristy Schoonover, and went home to meet Jesus on Thursday, Feb. 5, 2015, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City. The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 9, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home, 520 Wilson Ave. SW, Cedar Rapids. Please dress casually in blue jeans or khakis with bright colored shirts. Heather loved to be comfortable and loved colors. In memory of Heather's creativity, please bring a sticker and attach it to Heather's casket. The family will greet friends from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 8, at the funeral home. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, 4200 First Ave. NE, Cedar Rapids. Heather is survived by her parents, Greg Schoonover and Kristy (Mike) Flack; her grandparents, Clifford and Freida Chesick, Robert and Bonnie Hammer and Harry and Linda Odeen; her aunts and uncles, Karen (Ed) Haubach, Randy (Dawn) Chesick, Gary (Eloise) Flack, Elon (Jane) Flack, Fred (Veronica) Flack, Beth (Rick) Wion and Deb (Gary) Valenta; her cousins, Amanda (Tyler) Schnuckel and Scott Chesick; and close friends, Dan Richards and Jenny (Dan) Petersen. She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Robert Clayton Schoonover; grandmother, Margaux Kitti Hammer; and her aunt, Cathi Johanns. Heather attended and graduated from Alburnett High School in 2010 and was active in choir, theater, FBLA, wrestling cheerleading and the art show. She was a talented artist with her crocheting, painting, sketching, ceramics and photography. She was studying photography at Hawkeye Community College in Waterloo. Heather also enjoyed her karate class and tournaments and was a member of Phi Theta Kappa. She had the heart of a servant and enjoyed helping others. Heather was an organ donor and will be donating her wedding gown to St. Luke's to be made into angel gowns. She also was involved in Chrysalis activities and signed for the deaf at church.
