Heather Lynne Filling, 50, passed away on December 13, 2024, at the Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy after a courageous battle with Esophageal Cancer.
Heather was born July 10, 1974, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa to William and Vicki Filling.
Heather earned her Social Work Degree from Mount Mercy University. Heather’s career focused on people with disabilities from children in our schools to adults in group homes. Heather worked hard making this world a better place of success for everyone.
Heather was also a member of Eastern Star; an Order of the Masons, Rainbow, and Daughters of the American Revolution.
Left to cherish her memory are her mother Vicki Filling, sister Michelle Filling, brother Craig Filling, several nephews and nieces, as well as great-nephews and -nieces; aunts Denise, Donna, and Sandy. She also leaves behind a special friend, Jake Garcia and his daughters. Especially important to Heather, was her 27-year long friendship with Judy Judd and family.
She was preceded in death by her father William Filling and her angel baby.
Heather requested no formal service, but a Celebration of Life will be held in the Summer.
