Hazel F. Capps, 103, lifetime area resident died Sunday, Oct. 19, 2014, at the Windmill Manor Care Center in Coralville. Rebekah memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 22, at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City, with burial to follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour before the services and during the reception at the funeral home, following the graveside services.
Memorial donations can be made in Hazel's memory to the Iowa City Carnation Rebekah Lodge No. 376.

Hazel Files was born Feb. 8, 1911, in rural Johnson County, Iowa, the daughter of Purl and Olive Files. She was united in marriage to Gilbert L. Capps on Sept. 4, 1932. The couple made their home on Second Avenue for many years. She worked as a seamstress for the University of Iowa Hospitals and Gilbert as an Iowa City fireman. In later years, she volunteered at the Senior Center. She belonged to the Carnation Rebekah Lodge No. 376 and enjoyed playing in her pinochle and euchre clubs.
Her family includes nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gilbert on June 7, 1979; a brother Carl; and a sister, Oma.
