HAZEL AKINS
Cedar Rapids
Hazel I. Akins, 93, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2014, at Mercy Medical Center. Arrangements have been made with Cedar Memorial. Burial will be at a later date at Union Cemetery, south
of Lisbon.
Hazel was born Nov. 26, 1920, in rural Linn County to Roy and Isabel Oberton Kohl, the second of four daughters. She graduated from Lisbon High School in 1938. She worked for many years in food service at Collins Radio.
Preceding her in death were her husbands, Lou Lawrence, Ernest Hagerman and Lester Akins; parents; sisters, Dorothea, Rosena and Pearl; and two of her eight grandchildren.
Surviving her are three sons, Robert (Sung) Lawrence of Inglewood, Calif., Roger (Collette) Lawrence of La Mirada, Calif., and Ronald (Diane) Lawrence of Eastman, Wis.
Hazel spent this past year at Hallmark Care Center in Mount Vernon.
Hazel was much loved and had a delightful sense of humor.
Her family thanks all those who lovingly cared for her.
