Theresa A. Hayes da Silva, 50, of rural Hazleton, died Tuesday morning, Dec. 31, 2013, at Buchanan County Health Center in Independence. Mass of Christian Burial: 11:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 6, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Oelwein. Visitation: 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday, with a Scripture service at 7 p.m., at Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home, Oelwein. Inurnment at a later date at Immaculate Conception Catholic Cemetery, Fairbank.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established for the Celia and Ernane da Silva College Education Fund, c/o Ernane da Silva, P.O. Box 425, Hazleton, IA 50641.

Theresa is survived by her husband, Ernane da Silva; daughter, Celia da Silva of Hazleton; son, Ernane Lucas da Silva of Hazleton; brother, Tom (Valentina) Hayes of Brooklyn, N.Y.; two nieces and a nephew, Nate Hayes, Tess (Kevin) Smith and Torie Bowers; two great-nephews and five great-nieces, Alex Smith, Nicholas Hayes, Aliyah Schmidt, Alaina Smith, Daelynn Schmidt, LaDeya Schmidt and Bree Smith; two aunts, Lorraine Hayes of Independence and Shirley (Loras) Schlichte of Manchester; four uncles, Joe (Mary Jane) Gallery of Winthrop, Vince (Lee) Gallery of Shaftner, Calif., Louis (FayeAnne) Gallery of Winthrop and Mike (Mary) Gallery of Masonville; and many cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edwin and Mary (Gallery) Hayes.
