Havlicek, Margaret 'Peggy' I.
Margaret “Peggy” I. Havlicek, 71, of Cedar Rapids, died peacefully surrounded by family on Thursday, Feb. 23, 2012, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy after a short but courageous battle with cancer. Services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 28, at Teahen Funeral Home by Kim Vogel, chaplain at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy. Burial: Mount Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Teahen Funeral Home. Friends may visit again on Tuesday after 9:30 a.m.
Peggy is survived by her five children, Kim (Craig) Leonard of Cedar Rapids, Lisa (Brad) Rizzio of Marion, Martin Thenhaus of Marion, Roger (Kami) Thenhaus of Blairstown and Robin (Jay) Melichar of Cedar Rapids; five grandchildren, Megan Thenhaus, Michael Leonard, Morgan Thenhaus, Scott Thenhaus and Kourtney Metz; a brother, David (Mary) Jordan of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; two nephews, Mark Jordan and William Jordan; and a niece, Chrystal Spivey.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and a daughter-in-law, Lisa K. Thenhaus.
Peggy was born Nov. 27, 1940, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Howard and Irene (Butler) Jordan. She was employed by Rockwell Collins for 42 years before retiring in 2002.
She will be remembered for her caring heart, always putting others before herself. Her family was her greatest joy and she treasured quality time with them, especially the one-on-one time spent with each of her grandchildren.
In her spare time, she enjoyed making trips to the casino and dining in the Amanas with family and friends.
While she is gone from our presence, she will live on forever in our hearts.
The family would like to extend a personal thank you to Kris Sargent and the doctors, nurses and staff of Mercy Medical Center who so kindly cared for our mom, as well as the entire staff at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy.
Online condolences may be left for the family at www.teahenfuneralhome.com
Memorials may be directed in Peggy's name to the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy.
