Havlicek, Karl (Berger)
Karl (Berger) Havlicek, 91, a resident of Heritage Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, died there early Thursday, June 2, 2011. Burial will be in Czech National Cemetery. Papich-Kuba Funeral Service is serving the family.
Karl is survived by nephews and nieces, Jack, Bill, Tim and Bob Havlicek, Jean Lilly and Susan Burke.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jan and Andela (Sultes) Havlicek; brothers, Frank and John; and nephews, Steve and Phillip Havlicek.
Karl was born July 5, 1919, in Cedar Rapids. He attended Hayes Grade School and graduated from Wilson High School. Karl worked as a laborer for Joy Bicycle Manufacturing Co. in Michigan City, Ind., for many years. He had also been employed at Cherry Burrell and Link-Belt Speeder in Cedar Rapids.
