Hauschildt, Clifford L.
Clifford L. Hauschildt, 90, of Traer, entered into eternal life Friday evening, Aug. 6, 2010, at Sunrise Hill Care Center in Traer while under the care of its staff, his family, and the Hospice Compassus. Services will be held Tuesday, Aug. 10, at 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Dysart, with military burial rites at the Dysart Cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Overton Funeral Home in Traer.
Clifford was born in Gladbrook, Iowa on Sept. 9, 1919, son of August and Katie (Paustian) Hauschildt. He received his education in country school, graduating form Gladbrook High School in 1937. On Nov. 19, 1944, he married Helen Pippert at Dysart. He served in World War II in the Army from 1942 through 1945, spending a year in the Aleutian Islands.
He farmed in the Buckingham and Dysart areas, retiring in 1985 to Traer. He enjoyed entertaining at area nursing homes playing the button accordion with the Polka Club Band, woodworking and gardening. He was a member of the Dysart United Methodist Church and Traer Legion Post 142.
He is survived by his wife, Helen; three sons and daughters-in-law, Leo and Leorita of Cedar Rapids, Paul and Peggy of Minneapolis and Randy and Ann of Hiawatha; eight grandchildren, Dana (David) Medin, Craig and Marc (Amy), Katie and Ashley (Steagall). Amy (Jeff) Dolan, Jason and Stacy; and three great-grandchildren, Dawson, Daniel and Amaya. Also surviving are a sister, Marrietta Greve of Reinbeck; and a brother, August Hauschildt of Gladbrook.
He was preceded in death by his parents, August Sr. and Katie; and two brothers, Lloyd and Raymond.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established.
