Hatcher, Rodney Ralph
Rodney Ralph Hatcher, 79, of Indianola, died Saturday, Dec. 19, 2009 at the Indianola Westview Care Center. Memorial Services: 11 a.m. today at Overton Funeral Home, Indianola, with burial of cremains following in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
Rodney was born in Missouri Valley and had served in the United State Army during the Korean Conflict then serving in the Iowa National Guard. He worked for 30 years for Triple “F” Products in Des Moines. He had a life long interest in horses and was nationally and internationally known as a master breeder of fantail pigeons and English parakeets. He was an author of fantail books.
Rodney is survived by his wife, Florence; children, Larry (Vicky) Hatcher of Platteville, Colo., Gary (Jackie) Hatcher of Greene, Mark (Carol) Hatcher of Ankeny, Teresa (Roger) Jones of Gilbert, and Karen (Mike) Tomlinson of New Virginia; brothers, Robert, Jerry, Keith and Jon Hatcher; sisters, Sally Hurt, Katy Henkel, Joanne Jenneman and Ruth Hatcher; ten grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and special family friends, Earl and Grace Biedermann of Tucson, Ariz.
He was preceded in death by his son, Douglas Hatcher; parents, Ralph and Lena Hatcher; brother, Paul Hatcher; sister, Dianna Hanna.
Memorials may be given to the family in his name for a memorial to be decided at a later date.
