Hatch, Judith 'Judy' Ann
Judith “Judy” Ann Hatch, 70, of 890 27th St., Marion, died Wednesday, Aug. 18, 2010, at her home, surrounded by her loving family, following a long battle with cancer. Funeral Mass: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 21, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Marion. The family will greet friends from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion, with a parish vigil service to begin at 6:30 p.m. Burial: Blodgett Cemetery, rural Central City.
Survivors include her husband, Bill, of Marion; her children, Donald of Cedar Rapids, Dale (Denise) of Central City, Christopher (Dani) of Troy Mills, and Paula Hooper of Marion; close family friend, Lari Jo (Maurice) Neibert of Central City; brother, Gary (Mary) Heins of Center Point; 13 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Judy was born May 20, 1940, the daughter of Dale and Pauline (Barry) Heins, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She married William “Bill” Hatch on Feb. 11, 1961, in Cedar Rapids. Judy was part owner of R & R One Stop convenience store in Central City. She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Marion. Judy was an accomplished artist and had a passion for art. She also loved gardening and cooking.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established for St. Joseph Catholic Church and Francis Marion Intermediate School Art Program in Judy's memory.
The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the Iowa Blood Cancer Clinic; Dr. William Fusselman and nurse, Sue; Tracy and Christina from Hospice of Mercy; Dr. Fadi Yacoub; and the dialysis nurses for all of their special care during this time.
