Hass, Edith Marjorie
Edith Marjorie Hass, 96, of Tipton, died Wednesday, March 9, 2011, at Mercy Iowa City. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 12, at Fry Funeral Home, Tipton, with Pastor Paul Frederiksen officiating. Burial will follow in the Tipton Masonic Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Edith, daughter of William and Leta (Shepherd) Tittle, was born May 9, 1914, in Red Oak Township, Cedar County, Iowa. She was a 1933 graduate of the Clarence High School. On Aug. 27, 1933, Edith was united in marriage to Harold William Hass in the Little Brown Church, Nashua, Iowa. They farmed northwest of Tipton for 38 years.
She was a former member of the Red Oak Presbyterian Church and after the church closed became a member of the United Methodist Church of Tipton.
Edith is survived by her son, Richard and wife Karen Hass of Cedar Rapids; daughter, Lorraine and husband Frank Tauber of Iowa City; three granddaughters, Dawn Mims, Tami VandeWeerd and Jill O'Hara; two grandsons, Travis and Evan Tauber; five great-grandchildren, Kelsey, Adam and Nicholas Mims, Kiley and Colin VandeWeerd; and sister, Wilma Fisher of Mechanicsville.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold.
A memorial has been established in Edith's memory and will be given for local charities.
