Harville, Eleanor Ann (Kelly)
Eleanor Ann (Kelly) Harville, 84, of Cedar Rapids, passed away peacefully Thursday, Jan. 19, 2012, in Cedar Rapids. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 23, at St. Ludmila Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids. Burial will follow in Czech National Cemetery in Cedar Rapids. Visitation will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Brosh Chapel, located at 2121 Bowling St. SW, in Cedar Rapids, where there will be a 4 p.m. vigil.
Eleanor was born March 31, 1927, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Leo and Mary (Noble) Kelly. She was united in marriage to Jack Thomas Harville on Sept. 16, 1944, in Memphis, Tenn.
Eleanor is survived by her children, Kathy (Larry) Charipar of Cedar Rapids and Jack Jr. (Kathi) Harville of Fairfax; grandchildren, Tracey (Anthony) DiGregorio, Melissa (Steven) Meyers, Laura (Chad) West, Michael Harville and Erin Harville; great-grandchildren, Jacob Meyers, Michael DiGregorio, Samuel Meyers, Sophia DiGregorio, Landon West and Alivia West; and a brother, Thomas (Ann) Kelly.
She was preceded in death by her parents; beloved husband, Jack; a sister, Marilyn (Telecky) Melton; and a brother, James Kelly.
Eleanor returned to her childhood faith in 2011 when she became a member of St. Ludmila Parish. For several years, with her husband Jack, they were members of Hus Memorial Presbyterian Church. Eleanor served in many different capacities, including church leadership, fundraisers such as the annual chicken noodle soup supper, and rummage sales. Along with her husband, she enjoyed the antique car hobby, being a member of the Cedar Rapids Region Antique Automobile Club of America.
Eleanor's most prized role in life was being a homemaker and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother to her family. As the years progressed, she loved attending her grandchildren's and great-grandchildren's various sporting and academic activities where she became a very recognizable figure at these events. Eleanor always looked forward to gathering with her family to celebrate life, love and happy occasions.
A memorial fund has been established in Eleanor's name at 2121 Bowling St. SW, Cedar Rapids, IA 52404.
