Hartsock, George (Jake)
George (Jake) Hartsock, 74, of Iowa City, passed away Saturday, June 9, 2012 at Pleasantview Home, Kalona.
Visitation will be Wednesday, June 13 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Peterseim Funeral Home, Kalona.
Private committal services will be Thursday in the Oakland Cemetery, Iowa City.
George (Jake) Hartsock was born in Johnson County on March 21, 1938 to George E. and Gertrude (Bell) Hartsock. He went to a country school, Sharon #3 (Hartsock School), and graduated from Kalona High School in 1956.
Jake served his country in the U.S. Marine Corp in Vietnam.
He had been a rancher and cattleman for 45 years in Clark, Col. in the spring and summer and in Raymond, Calif. in the fall and winter.
Jake is survived by one sister, Mary (Don) Gringer of Iowa City; and three brothers, William Hartsock of Douglas, Alaska, Howard Hartsock of Iowa City, and Jim Hartsock of Wellman.
Jake was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Doris.
Peterseim Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
