Harry E. Norman Jr., 91, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Friday, March 25, 2016, at Bickford Cottage, Marion. Services: 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 29, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service on Wilson Avenue, Cedar Rapids. Visitation: one hour before the service. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Harry is survived by his daughters, Judy (Wayne) Husted of Shellsburg and Nancy (Mike) Newsome of Cedar Rapids; five grandchildren, Donna Lowe Finch, Edward (Nancy) Lowe, Douglas (Julie) Newsome, Michael (Debbie) Riddle and Gregory (Michelle) Renner; in-laws, Mike (Jackie) Forbes and Patricia Day; and many great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Harry was preceded in death by his wife, Juanita Norman; his parents; brother, Verl; sisters, Arlene Sanders and Anna McGuire; granddaughter, Lawni Renner in March 1995; and brother-in-law, Richard Day.
Harry was born Aug. 17, 1924, in Cedar Rapids, son of Harry and Vivian (Rawson) Norman Sr. He married Juanita Day on Nov. 24, 1941, in St. Louis, Mo. Harry entered the U.S. Army in 1943, serving in the 8th Armored Division in the European Theatre during World War II.
Harry was a Union master plumber for Brown Plumbing, retiring in 1986 after 36 years.
Harry was a past member of American Legion Post 5. He enjoyed going to the cabin at Lake Delhi, where he boated and fished. Harry liked to bowl and loved his animals.
