Harry Leonard Cross, 92, of Cedar Rapids, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 5, 2022. A visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 17, at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 18, with a visitation beginning one hour prior, at St. Pius X Catholic Church. The mass will be livestreamed; you may join the family at www.crpiusx.org/live-stream-events. beginning at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday. Entombment immediately following at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Harry is survived by his children, Timothy (Betty) Cross, MDs, Mark (Sally) Cross, Cindy (David) Thiede and Julia Ferris; daughter-in-law, Linda Cross; grandchildren, Kelley Kennedy, Nicholas, Kimberley, Benjamin (Cristy) Cross, Jason (Kara) and Brian Cross, Zachary Cross, Matthew, Daniel (Jennifer) Thiede, Sarah (Rilee Moulton) Thiede-Moulton, and Spencer and Bailey Ferris; great-grandchildren, Nicole and Nathan Kennedy, Benson and William Cross, Owen and Ella Thiede and Aria Cross; great-great-grandchild, Lochlann Read; and siblings, Margaret (Ralph) Kaverman and Lois Murzynski.
Harry was preceded in death by his wife, Lois; son, Bruce Cross, MD; grandson, Andrew Cross; and six siblings.
Harry was born on Jan. 22, 1930, in Delphos, Ohio, to Raymond and Hilda Cross. He graduated from St. John's Catholic High School in Delphos. After high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy during the Korean conflict. He attended DeVry Technical Institute in Chicago, training to be an electronic technologist. He worked for 37 years at Rockwell Collins. In 1953, Harry met the love of his life, Lois Mae Fiser; they were married and spent 60 years together before her passing in 2014. Harry was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend. He will be greatly missed.
