Harry Andrew Ehmsen Jr., 80, died peacefully Friday, Oct. 5, 2018, at The Bird House Hospice Home. A gathering to celebrate Harry's life will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 10, at Flannigan's, 501 First Ave., Coralville. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Harry Ehmsen Memorial Fund, c/o Hills Bank and Trust.
Harry was born May 17, 1938, in Davenport, Iowa, the son of Harry Andrew and Maysie Sherman Ehmsen. On Jan. 9, 1970, Harry married Patti Loveless in Woodstock, Ill. Harry was a longtime employee of Iowa Book and Supply Commercial Sales. Following his retirement, Harry drove for Durham Bus Co.
He was a member of the Lions Club, the Coralville Optimist Club, served on the Coralville City Council and had served as chairman of the Johnson County American Cancer fundraising drive.
The family would like to extend their appreciation to the caregivers with Iowa City Hospice and The Bird House.
Survivors include his loving wife, Patti; his daughter, Penny (Richard) Sullivan of Moline, Ill.; and his son, Harry (Heidi) Ehmsen of Solon; and five grandchildren, Haleigh, Keighley, Matt, Harry IV and Kinsley.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Paul; and grandson, Chris.
