Harry Burton Hardman, born Aug. 17, 1942, passed away with his family surrounding him after a short illness in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. There will be a graveside service for family with a Celebration of Life at a later date. Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Cedar Rapids is assisting the family.
Harry was born in Oelwein, Iowa, to Leroy Jr. and Beatrice Hardman. He was one of 16 children, eight boys and eight girls. He married the love of his life, Cathy Ann Henecke, on June 23, 1962. He was the father of four, grandfather of nine, great-grandfather of five, and dog dad to Ginger, all of whom he absolutely loved with all his heart.
Harry worked at Cargill where he met many of his closest friends. He was part of the Teamsters Union Local 238 as Union Steward until he retired in 1995. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting, golfing, camping, playing pinochle, riding his John Deere, drinking his heart medicine (Black Velvet) and Budweiser. He was an avid fan of the Chicago Bears and Cubs! His greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends.
Harry is survived by his bride, Cathy Ann; children, Tina (John) Clapp, Tracy Keys and Jeff (Eileen) Hardman; his grandchildren, Joe (Katie), Dennis, Khrystal, Austin, Trevor, Trey, Autumn and Brogan; his great-grandchildren, Anna, Braylen, Vivian, Aaron and soon to be Nomi; his sisters, Sharon Byrne, Mary Davis, Sally Wallander, Becky Williams and Robin Heising; and many nieces and nephews that held a special place in his heart.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Jimmy Dean; his grandson, John Robert; his brothers, Jimmy, Douglas, Richard, Tom, Billy, Ronnie and John; sisters, Beverly, Peggy and Susan; and mother-in-law, Margaret Henecke.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Cathy or Jeff.
