Harriet was born on May 17, 1935, in Delhi, Iowa, the daughter of Lyle and Pearl (Turner) Miller. She was raised in the idyllic surroundings of rural Manchester, where she received her education at a one-room country school. On November 25, 1972, Harriet was united in marriage to Junior F. Fisher in Independence. Harriet worked for Veneer Box Factory and Lewis Systems, until her retirement in 2000. Throughout her years, she had a special talent for crafting handmade quilts, each stitch woven with love and care. Harriet found immense joy amongst her flowers, nurturing them with an attentive hand. Harriet often enjoyed watching her favorite westerns, which brought her both entertainment and a sense of nostalgia. She was also the beloved companion of her little dog, Squirt, and her son’s dog, Hunter, who brought her endless joy and companionship. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Harriet is survived and lovingly remembered by her two children, William (Mary) McCusker of Marion and Barbara Thomas of Rockford, Illinois; eight grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and sister, Helen Brown of Bishop, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Junior F. Fisher; daughter, Nancy (Jerry) Cramer; son-in-law, Garland Thomas; and siblings, Roy, Raymond, Harry, George, Clifford, and Archie Miller, Dorothy Pinch, and Mae Keenan.
