Harold W. Hosch, 92, of Cascade, died Sunday, June 14, 2015, at 6:40 a.m. at Shady Rest Care Center in Cascade. Friends and relatives of Harold may call from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday, June 21, at Reiff Funeral Home in Cascade, where a wake service will be at 4:30 p.m. Services for Harold will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 22, at St. Martin's Catholic Church in Cascade, with the Rev. Douglas Loecke officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Cascade.
He was born May 16, 1923, in Cascade, Iowa, son of Peter and Catherine (Kurt) Hosch. He received his education at St. Mary's School in Cascade. On Sept. 10, 1947, he was united in marriage to Irene Holub at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Monticello. The couple farmed in the rural Cascade area.
He was a member of St. Matthias Parish and Iowa Cattlemens Association. He served on the former St. Mary's Parish Council and school board.
He is survived by six children, Dianne (Joe) Roberts of San Jose, Calif., Jane (Gary) Little of Marysville, Ohio, Denise (Cliff) Smoluch of Scottsdale, Ariz., Richard (Sue) Hosch of Cascade and Ron (Rose) Hosch and Kevin (Sue) Hosch, both of Monticello; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Katherine Knipper of Dyersville and Rose Koopmann of Delhi; and three sisters-in-law, Julie Hosch and Millie Hosch, both of Cascade, and Lois Hosch of New Vienna.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Irene A. Hosch, on Aug. 15, 2003; a daughter-in-law, Jodi Hosch, on Aug. 3, 2003; three brothers, John P., George J. and Edwin Hosch; two sisters, Mary C. Trumm and Margaret Koopmann; and four brothers-in-law, John Koopmann, LeRoy Trumm, Larry Knipper and Donald Koopmann.
