HAROLD A. FISCHER

Harold A. Fischer, 94, passed away Sunday, Feb. 25, 2018, at Genesis Medical Center East in Davenport. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday March 2, at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church in Toronto with Father Francis Odoom officiating. Burial will follow at St. James Cemetery in Toronto. Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, March 1, at Chapman Funeral Home in Wheatland.
Harold was born to Albert and Lillian Busch Fischer on Sept. 17, 1923. Harold loved his garden, to fish, animals, and in his younger years, play horseshoes. During Harold's farming years, he bragged about having the straightest rows. He also was very proud of his work at Alcoa.
He is survived by children, Don (Shar) Straka of Wheatland, Richard (Rita) Straka of Hampton, Ill., and Deb (Don) Naughton of Solon; grandchildren, Dawn (Todd) Engler, Dave (Susan) Straka, Collin (Amy) Straka, Mechelle (Joe) Janz, Moe (Joe) Wertz, Brenna Choisser, Tom (Teri) Straka and Brad (Ken) Straka; 14 great-grandchildren; and daughter-in-law, Judy Meyer of Dubuque.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Matilda, in November 2017; stepson, James; step- daughter, Mary Lou; grandson, Steve; granddaughter, Erin; and two brothers, Ronald and Kenneth.
