Harold Earnest Stanek, 86 years old, of Aurora, IA, died Thursday, Nov. 9, 2023, at his home following a long illness.
Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. – Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2023, at White Funeral Home in Independence, IA, with Rev. Paul Evans officiating. Burial will be in the Dunkard Cemetery in Midway, IA.
Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., Monday, Nov. 13, at White Funeral Home, Independence, and will continue for an hour before services, Tuesday, at the funeral home.
Harold was born Nov. 3, 1937, at home in rural Buchanan County, outside of Winthrop, IA, the son of Elmer John and Vera LaVerna (Bowers) Stanek.
He attended country school in Buchanan County and worked on the family farm most of his life. He was very good with mechanics and enjoyed being a farmer. He liked to explore the countryside and fish. He loved it when friends would stop by to visit. He was a good cook and became a very good yodeler. Harold was a good brother and was willing to help out in any way possible.
Harold is survived by two brothers, James Stanek of Oelwein, IA, Roger Stanek of Aurora, IA; one sister, Marjorie Stanek of Hiawatha, IA; and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; 6 brothers, Franklin Stanek, William Stanek, Marvin Stanek, Raymond Stanek, Albert Stanek, Alvin Stanek; and one sister, Carolyn Hovey.
