Harman, Mary Laneve
Mary Laneve Harman, 76, of Cedar Rapids, took her final journey home on Tuesday, Sept. 1, at Northbrook Manor Care Center in Cedar Rapids. Funeral services will be
3 p.m. Friday at Lensing's Oak Hill, Coralville, with the Rev. Mary Johnston officiating. Visitation will be today from 4 to 6 p.m. and after 1 p.m. Friday. Graveside services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Walnut Hill Cemetery, Council Bluffs. Casual dress is requested.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Hospice of Mercy, Cedar Rapids.
Mary was born April 19, 1933, in Harrison County, Mo., the daughter of Fred and Dolin Wise Murphy. On June 6, 1952, she married Everett Harman in Cherokee, Okla. After residing in Wichita, Kan., and then Council Bluffs, Iowa, Mary and her family moved to Hills, where they resided from 1972 until 2004. They then moved to North Liberty and in 2007, she moved to Cedar Rapids to be near family.
She was most recently employed at Burger King in Iowa City, but her passion was children. She owned and operated Nannie and Poppie's House, caring for many children in and around Hills.
Survivors include three daughters, Laura Bogs of Dallas Center and Cynthia O'Leary and Lisa (Tim) Rourke, both of Cedar Rapids; three sisters, LeaIla (Hugh) Wilson of Boise, Idaho, and Dixie Creps and Helen Knott, both of Council Bluffs; one brother, James (Carol) Murphy of Council Bluffs; eight grandchildren, Paul, Tina, Alicia, Katie, Charles, Stuart, Curtis and Casey; and eight great-grandchildren.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Everett; her daughter, Reba; her great-grandson, Paul Jr.; and brother, Clifton Murphy.
