Harman, Dorothy I.
Dorothy I. Harman, 90, of Cedar Rapids, died Sunday, March 14, 2010, at Manor Care. Services: 10 a.m. Wednesday at Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel, by Chaplain Phil Saunders. Interment: Oak Hill Cemetery. A visitation will be held Tuesday at Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel, where friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m., and after 9 a.m. Wednesday.
Survivors include her son, Richard; nephew, Harold (Linda) Bruce; and niece, Joyce Rogers.
She was preceded in death by her parents; spouse, Clarence; sisters, Violet, Evelyn and Jenny; and brothers, Roger and Alford.
Dorothy was born May 15, 1919, in Mount Auburn, to George and Florence Welton. They moved to La Porte City and later to Cedar Rapids. She attended Roosevelt High School. She married Clarence Harman on June 19, 1943, in Cedar Rapids. He died in 1968. Dorothy worked at Souvenir Pen and Pencil Co. and later at Collins Radio Co. during World War II. She took a year off after the birth of her son and then returned, working for 30 more years and then retiring. She was a past member of IBEW No. 1362.
