Harland, Jean
Jean Harland, 73, of Independence, died Friday, Nov. 6, 2009, at Mercy Living Plus in Oelwein. Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at White Funeral Home in Independence, with Pastor Tom Jones officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Wilson Cemetery, Independence. Friends may call for visitation from 4 until 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
She was born June 5, 1936, in Oelwein, the daughter of Russell and Pauline Agnes (Reid) Zubrod. Before she retired, she worked in the housekeeping department at Peoples Memorial Hospital in Independence.
Mrs. Harland is survived by two daughters, Donna “Nervy” (Clark) Fratzke of Independence and Rochelle “Roach” (Darrin Ward) Harland of Waterloo; a son, Steven “Bud” Harland of Bethel Island, Calif.; two grandchildren, Bart Alan “Bud” Wilson and Kristin “Polly” Fratzke; three sisters, Jeri Greve of Ossian, Vir Hannan of Denver, Iowa and Ruthie Potwin of Waterloo; three brothers, Chuck (Eleanor) Zubrod of Clinton, Dick (Barb) Zubrod of Oelwein and Barney Zubrod of Waterloo; and many nieces and nephews.
