Hardy, Beryl May
Beryl May Hardy, 87, of Anamosa, died Friday July 31, 2009, at the Anamosa Care Center following an extended illness. Services:
10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the United Methodist Church in Anamosa, by the Rev. Laurie Riley. Friends may call from 4 to 7 Monday at the Goettsch Funeral Home in Anamosa. Internment: Riverside Cemetery in Anamosa.

Surviving is her husband, James; her children, Dwayne (Bonnie) May of Cedar Rapids, Carl (Joyce) May of Anamosa, Carole (Bill) Keegan of Williamsburg, and Shawn L. May of California; two brothers, Marvin and Dwayne Ellwood, both of Marion; three grandchildren, Kate (John) Knapp, Everett May, and Chad May; two great-grandchildren, Tyler and Adam Knapp.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lawrence May; a brother, Ralph; an infant sister, Pearl; and three sisters-in-law, Lois, Georgia and Donna Ellwood.
Beryl May Hardy was born Jan. 11, 1922, in Waubeek. She was the daughter of Frank and Luana Minehart Ellwood. Beryl and Lawrence May were married Sept. 18, 1946, at the United Methodist Church in Anamosa, and remained married until Lawrence passed in 1986. She then married Jim B. Hardy in Aug. 12, 1989.
Beryl worked at the Reliance Shirt Factory and Collins Radio in Anamosa. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Anamosa and a member of the Rebecca Lodge, where she was a past Noble Grand. Beryl enjoyed visiting with family and friends, also shut-ins. She was a very active member of the Anamosa United Methodist Church, She taught Sunday school, enjoyed helping in the church for fundraisers, knitting, crocheting baby outfits for the bishops ingathering, and assisting with funeral luncheons. She also enjoyed baking, traveling, fishing, camping, walking and square dancing.
