Hardin, Esther
Esther Hardin, 92, of Hopkinton, died at 4:35 Tuesday morning, Jan. 8, 2013, at Oak Crest Manor in Dyersville. Funeral services will be held at 10 Saturday morning, Jan. 12, at St. Luke's Catholic Church, Hopkinton. Friends may call from 4 until 7 p.m. Friday at the church, where a Scripture service will be held at 7 p.m. Friends may call after 9 Saturday morning at the church. Interment will be held at Hopkinton Cemetery. Father John Kremer and Deacon Phil Saunders will officiate at the services.

Those left to cherish her memory are her four sons, Glen (Anna Mae) Hardin Jr. of Peosta, Robert (Pamela) Hardin of San Diego, Calif., Jack (Juli) Hardin of Cedar Rapids and Terry (Deb) Hardin of Hopkinton; 19 grandchildren, Dr. Cindy Hipp, Steve, Scott, Mike, Jon, Rob, Troy, Greg, Annie, Jeremiah and Hannah Hardin, Lynn Kruse, Paige Junge, Molly Franzenburg, Nora Billmeyer, Andrea Theisen, Kevin, Kurt and Chris Hoefer; 27 great-grandchildren; and a stepsister, Carol Lawrence.
She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant son, Richard; a daughter, Debra; stepfather, Lumir Skvor; a brother, Gilbert Klaren; and brothers and sisters-in-law, Germaine Klaren, Dwight (Pauline) Bullock, Dale (Glendola) Bullock, Roy (Wilma) Hardin and Gale (Ruth) Hardin.
Esther Anna Marie Klaren was born Nov. 13, 1920, in Worthington, Iowa, the daughter of Lawrence and Jean Brunsman Klaren. She received her education in the Hopkinton Schools. Esther Klaren and Glen Hardin were married Sept. 21, 1939, at St. Luke's Catholic Church, Hopkinton. The couple farmed near Farley, Dubuque and Maquoketa. In 1952, they moved to Hopkinton and Esther was employed at the Hopkinton and Maquoketa Valley Schools in the hot lunch program. Glen preceded her in death on Feb. 23, 2005.
Esther love to visit and make friends with everyone. Her greatest joy was spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The family and would like to thank Hospice of Dubuque and Oak Crest Manor for all the love and care they gave to our mother.
