Haravon, Dr. Aristide 'TD'
Dr. Aristide “TD” Haravon, 83, of Pleasantville, N.Y., died Nov. 28, 2009. Visitation will be at Beecher Funeral Home in Pleasantville, N.Y. on Sunday, Dec. 13, from 2 to 4 p.m., with his memorial service at 3 p.m.
Aristide is survived by his wife of 45 years, Alda Haravon; his daughters, Anita Haravon and Leslea Haravon Collins (Steve); and his grandchildren, Serena, Jeremiah, Ariel and Tobiah Haravon Collins.
He was preceded in death by his grandson, Jacob Haravon Collins.
Aristide was born Feb. 17, 1926, in Bucharest, Romania, to parents Iancu Haravon and Regine Mendelsohn. He obtained a medical degree from the Institute for Medicine & Pharmacology in Bucharest. He immigrated to France and eventually settled in the United States in 1962. He completed a Clinical Fellowship in Cardiology at Montefiore Hospital, Bronx, N.Y., and opened his medical practice in Pleasantville in 1966. Aristide Haravon was Chief of Cardiology at Northern Westchester Hospital and an attending physician at Westchester County Medical Center. In 1971, he established Northern Westchester Hospital's first Coronary Care Unit, which still thrives today.
TD was happiest in the sun, either skiing, playing tennis, swimming in the ocean or sipping a cold drink with friends. He had a marvelous singing voice and would accompany himself on the piano at parties. Aristide recently became a Life Master in the American Contract Bridge League and was a frequent player at the Bridge Deck in Scarsdale.
