Hanson, Terence J.
Terence J. Hanson was born Jan. 20, 1954, in Davenport, Iowa, the son of George and Roberta Edwards Hanson. He died Thursday, Nov. 19, 2009, at University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics in Iowa City following a brief illness at the age of 55 years. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Williamsburg. Father Joseph Roost and Father Wally Helms will preside. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Williamsburg, where there will be a prayer service at 7 p.m.
Terry graduated from Williamsburg High School in 1972. While in high school, Terry enjoyed playing football and wrestling. He graduated from Des Moines Community College, with a degree in hotel and restaurant management. He was a proud owner of the Famous Dill Burger franchise and was currently manager of the Williamsburg McDonald's. On June 25, 1977, he was united in marriage to Patty Walsh in Cedar Rapids; they later divorced. To this union, they were blessed with two children, Chad and Robbie. On May 23, 2009, he was united in marriage to Deanna Hildebrand in Cedar Rapids. He was a member of St. Thomas More Church in Coralville. He enjoyed cooking, eating, quiet time at home and he loved to sing Elvis Karaoke.
He is survived by his wife, Deanna of Coralville; his children, Chad (Angela) Hanson of Cedar Rapids and Robbie (Brian) Pauly of Key West, Fla.; a granddaughter, Keely Hanson of Cedar Rapids; his parents, George and Roberta of Williamsburg; a brother, Mike Hanson, and a sister, Bobbi Sue Hanson, both of Phoenix, Ariz.; a nephew, Nick Hanson; and his mother- and father-in-law, Robert and Wilma Hildebrand of Manchester.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
A general memorial fund has been established.
