Hanson, Alvin Talman 'Tom' Jr.
Alvin Talman “Tom” Hanson Jr., 92, passed away Friday, March 19, 2010, at his residence. Funeral Services will be held at Crowder Funeral Home on Medical Center Boulevard in Webster, Texas at 7 p.m. today. Burial and graveside services will be in Cedar Rapids at Cedar Memorial Cemetery on Friday at 2 p.m.
Tom was born in Sioux Falls, S.D. on March 25, 1917, to Alvin Talman Hanson and Borghild Peterson Hanson. He spent most of his career in Cedar Rapids. Tom and Bette also lived for four years in La Jolla, Calif. before moving back to Cedar Rapids in 1980. After Bette's death, he moved to Phoenix for five years and has lived in the Clear Lake, Texas for the last 23 years.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Bette Ann Kibler Hanson.
He is survived by his son, Alvin Talman Hanson, III, and his daughter-in-law, Kitty Hough, of Minneapolis; his daughter, Kristen Wessale, and his son-in-law, Bill Wessale, of Houston; three grandchildren, Mark Hanson of Minneapolis, Dana Wessale Landry of Santa Fe, Texas, and Ted Wessale of Houston; and four great-grandchildren, Bryce Hanson, Robyn Ann Hanson, Jaxon Wessale and Reese Landry.
Donations may be made in his memory to Cathedral Home for Children, Box 520 Laramie, Wyoming. Due to his love of plants and flowers, the family asks that you plant something in his memory.
