Hansen, Judy A.
Judy A. Hansen, 56, of Marion, died Monday, June 4, 2012, at home after a courageous battle with cancer. Funeral services: 10 a.m. Saturday, June 9, 2012, at Holy Ghost Church in Dubuque. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion. Burial: Mount Calvary Cemetery in Dubuque.
Survivors include her husband, Keith; her daughter, Jennifer (Zach) Simmen of Central City; her siblings of Dubuque, Donna Parker, Bill (Joyce) Markus, Dick (Janice) Markus, Carol (Tom) Bertjens, Diane (Dan) Hohmann, Linda (Dan) Lucey and Mary Markus; her brothers-in-law, Steve (Marge) Hansen of Colby, Kan., and Delbert (Lois) Hansen of Cheyenne, Wyo.; 18 nieces and nephews; 16 great-nieces and great-nephews; and many close friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her mother and father-in-law; and her brother-in-law, Bob Parker.
Judy was born March 9, 1956, the daughter of LaVern and Violet (Thumser) Markus in Dubuque. She graduated from Hempstead High School in 1974 and from Capri in 1975. She married Keith Hansen of Centerville in 1977. Their daughter Jennifer was born in 1982.
Judy enjoyed her family, especially nieces and nephews, sewing, scrapbooking, quilting, and playing cards. Her primary job was being a wife, mother to one, and “Mama J” to many.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the “American Cancer Society Relay for Life Team Judy” or Hospice of Mercy.
