Hansen, Dorothy Lyle 'Galbraith'
Dorothy Lyle “Galbraith” Hansen
Dorothy “Dottie” Hansen, 90, passed away peacefully on Nov. 20, 2010, at Régence of Puyallup, Puyallup, Wash., after a brief illness.
Dorothy was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa on Feb. 14, 1920, to Howard L. and Bessie L Galbraith. She married Merrill J. Hansen on July 10, 1948. They were married 44 years before he preceded her in death on Nov. 25, 1992. Dorothy graduated from Roosevelt High School and worked for many years in the plumbing supply business. In 1993, she relocated to Graham, Wash., to be nearer to her daughter.
Dorothy enjoyed bowling and volleyball and was an avid reader in her later years. She was always well-informed on the current news and national events.
Surviving Dorothy are her brother, Melvin Galbraith, Cedar Rapids, and her sister-in-law and best friend, Maxine Gordon, also of Cedar Rapids.
She leaves behind her daughter, Merry Jo Neyens (Ronald), Graham, Wash.; two granddaughters, Melissa Perry (Jeff) and Patricia Uhron (Mark); and her three great-grandsons, Logan Perry, Ethan Uhron and Colin Uhron. Her constant feline companion, Snow, also will miss her and is being cared for by family friends.
She will be laid to rest at a later date in Cedar Rapids beside her husband and parents.
The family would like to thank Good Samaritan Hospital all of the wonderful nurses at Multicare Infusion Center and Régence of Puyallup for their kindness while caring for Dorothy. We would also like to thank Dr. Christopher Young and his staff at Sound Family Medicine. He was the most caring, compassionate and loving person any family could ask for while caring for Dorothy.
Online condolences may be left for the family at under obituaries.
