Hansel, Barbara Jean
Barbara Jean Hansel, 62, died Monday, Feb. 20, 2012, at Crestview Nursing and Rehab Center in West Branch. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 23, at the Henderson-Barker Funeral Home in West Branch. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

She was born July 2, 1949, in Sigourney, Iowa, the daughter of Jim and Irene (Cavin) Flanegan. Barbara served as staff sergeant in the Air Force Reserves for over 20 years. She was employed with the University of Iowa for over 27 years and also worked at the Colony House in Little Amana.
She is survived by her children, Jackie Hansel of Council Bluffs, Tony Hansel of Omaha, Neb., Dennis Hansel of Omaha, Neb., Krystal Kinzenbaw of Middle Amana, and George Flanegan of Marengo; and 10 grandchildren.
She is also survived by her sisters, Mary Valdez of Denver, Colo., and Carol Klinkkammer of West Branch; brothers, George Flanegan of Iowa City, Paul Flanegan of West Branch, and Pat Flanegan of Iowa City; and a special friend, George Kinzenbaw.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Virgil and Jimmy.
The family would like to thank Iowa City Hospice and Cindy Danielson for their support and compassion.
