Hannon, Anne
Anne Hannon, 81, of Cedar Rapids, a longtime resident of Linwood Apartments, died Thursday, Dec. 16, 2010, at Colonial Manor of Amana following a short illness. Memorial Mass: 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Jude Catholic Church by Father Mark Reasoner. A rosary will be recited at 4 p.m. Monday where friends may visit from 4 to 6 p.m. at Teahen Funeral Home, Cedar Rapids, and again after 9 a.m. Tuesday at the church.
Anne is survived by her favorite niece, Christine Sparks of Cedar Rapids; four nephews, Dixon (Terry) Slater of Grayslake, Ill., Michael (Maryann) Slater of Folsom, Calif., Kevin Slater (Ashley Dodge) and Patrick (Lois) Slater, both of Fairfax; 14 great-nieces and nephews, Wendy, Jennifer, Andrea, Kim, Katie, Jim, Shirley, Barbara, Megan, Emily, Mark, Nick, David and John; brother-in-law, Dave (Mary) Neuhaus of Fairfax; and Kay Slater of Cedar Rapids.
Anne was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Helen Slater McQueen and Mary Clare Neuhaus; and nephew, Joseph Slater.
Frances Anne was born Feb. 13, 1929, in Parnell, the daughter of Frank and Pearl Tiernan Hannon. She moved to Cedar Rapids and began her career at Allis Chalmers. Anne then worked at WMT Radio for 17 years in the advertising traffic department, retiring in 1975. Anne was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church. She led a prayerful life through her daily Rosaries and Novenas.
Anne was proud of her Irish heritage and was an avid Notre Dame and Iowa Hawkeye fan. She cherished her family and friends and will be greatly missed.
