Hanna, Galen M.
Galen M. Hanna, 68, formerly of Cedar Rapids and Brooklyn, Iowa, passed away peacefully Friday, July 22, 2011.
He was born the son of Presley and Esther (Platner) Hanna on March 11, 1943, in Anamosa, Iowa. He married Diane “Pidge” Hatcher and the couple raised their family in Cedar Rapids. They later moved to their home on Holiday Lake in Brooklyn, Iowa. In 2007, Galen moved to River Falls, Wis., to be closer to his daughter's family after his loving wife of 42 years, Diane, died in 2006. He is also preceded in death by his parents, and granddaughter, Ella Hammond.
Galen is survived by his children, Lynn Hanna of Fraser, Colo., and Nanci (Kyle) Hammond, and their two children, Reece and Owen, all of River Falls, Wis.; siblings, Keith (Bev) Hanna of Anamosa and Karen (Dale) Buehler of Des Moines; and many other relatives and friends.
A celebration of Galen's life will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 1, with a Memory Sharing Service at 10:30 a.m. at the North Hampton Inn (Hawkeye Room) in Cedar Rapids.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Stand Up To Cancer.
Cremation services were provided by Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services, River Falls, Wis.
