Hammond, Norman Edward
Norman Edward Hammond, 97, of Cedar Rapids, formerly of Marion, died Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2012. Funeral services: 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 14, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion, by the Rev. Howard Chapman. Family will greet friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, where a Masonic service will begin at 7:30 p.m. Private family inurnment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include a daughter, Norma Arlene Schmatt (Mike Perry) of Cedar Rapids; a son, Bruce E. (Ruby) Hammond of Cedar Rapids; three grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a sister, Alberta Cray.
Norm was preceded in death by his wife, Arlene; his parents; four sisters; one brother; and an infant daughter, Ruby.
Memorials may be directed to First Presbyterian Church, Marion, or Camp Courageous in Norm's memory.
