Hamilton, Marietta J.

Marietta J. Hamilton, 78, a resident of Living Center West, Cedar Rapids, died there Saturday, Dec. 26, 2009, after a lengthy illness. Services: noon Tuesday, Dec. 29, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral & Cremation Service, where the family will greet friends from 11 a.m. to service time. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.

Survivors include her husband, Glenn; her children, Sheryl (Ron) Brendengen and Kent (Terri Avelar) Hamilton; and three grandchildren, Hayley, Shannon and Alyssa.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Velda.

Marietta was born June 10, 1931, in Waterloo, Iowa. A 1950 graduate from Manchester High School, she married Glenn Hamilton at St. Patrick's Catholic Church on Sept. 4, 1954. Marietta worked as a key punch operator for Allis Chalmers, Collins and the railroad. She enjoyed playing cards and taking trips out of the house.

Marietta dealt with multiple sclerosis for over 40 years and the family would like to give a special thank you to all the neighbors and caregivers who helped our family over the years with Marietta.
