Hamilton, Lavonne
Lavonne Hamilton, 84, of 1800 Chandler St. SW, died Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2011, after a long illness. Services: 11 a.m. Thursday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. The Rev. Jim Goodrich will officiate. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday.
Survivors include her husband, James; two sons, Thomas (Maria) of Cedar Rapids and Mark (Karen) of Albuquerque, N.M.; two brothers, Bill (Carol) Garrett and Dick (Ann) Garrett; and two sisters, Wanda Lear and Shirley (Bob) Morgan. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Joshua, David, Rachel, Ben, Jim, Michael and Sam.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and a daughter, Geri Feltz.
Lavonne was born June 4, 1927, in South English, the daughter of Roe and Cuma (Neilson) Garrett. She married James M. Hamilton on April 17, 1949, in Marion. Lavonne was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church-Church of the Brethren, later Church on Northland. She also was a member of the Dorcas Circle and enjoyed working with the group making quilts for charity.
Lavonne loved a sunny day with the birds singing, spending time with family, quilting and crocheting.
She was a joy to her family and friends and will be greatly missed and remembered with love.
