Hamilton, Jeffrey Alan
Jeffrey Alan Hamilton, 49, of Fort Dodge, formerly of rural Alburnett, died Sunday, May 23, 2010, at Trinity Regional Medical Center, Fort Dodge, as a result of a motorcycle accident. A vigil service will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday, May 26, 2010, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion, followed by visitation from 4:30 to 8 p.m. Funeral mass: 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 27, 2010, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, Hiawatha, Iowa, by Father Neil Manternach. Graveside service: 1:30 p.m. Thursday, May 27, 2010, at St. John's Cemetery, Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Survivors include his three children, Lydia, Luke and Lauren Hamilton of Oelwein; his mother, Jeanette Hamilton of rural Alburnett; maternal grandmother, Beuna Zeman of rural Alburnett; his siblings, Dennis (Deb) Hamilton of Blue Grass, Iowa, Doug (Jane) Hamilton of rural Alburnett, Angie (Jim) Watt of Delray Beach, Fla., Bruce (Barb) Hamilton of Coggon, Chris (Brenda) Hamilton of Algona and Andy Hamilton of Center Point; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Richard “Dick” Hamilton; brother, Charles Hamilton; maternal grandfather, John Zeman; and paternal grandparents, Ivanor and Marie Hamilton.
Jeff was born Dec. 5, 1960, the son of Richard and Jeanette (Zeman) Hamilton, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He graduated from Alburnett High School in 1978 and later from the University of Iowa. He married Lisa DeLong in 1998. They had three children and later divorced. Jeff was employed at Fort Dodge Animal Health. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, playing pool and was an avid Hawkeye fan. Jeff also enjoyed spending time in the outdoors and activities with his children and will be greatly missed.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Jeff's memory.
