Hamblin, Mary Georgia
Mary Georgia Hamblin, 85, of Lamont, died Thursday, Nov. 24, 2011, at the Strawberry Point Lutheran Home. Services will be 1:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 28, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Strawberry Point, with Father Paul Peters officiating. Burial will be in the Strawberry Point Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 2 to 8 p.m. at Roberson Funeral Home in Strawberry Point and also an hour before services at the church on Monday.
Mary was born May 23, 1926, in Masonville, Iowa, to George and Elizabeth (Behan) Vinton. She had been a teacher at Starmont for 48 years.
Survivors include two daughters, Catharine (Tim) Smith of Strawberry Point and Mary Reynolds of Manchester; one son, Ray Hamblin of Cedar Rapids; two granddaughters, LeAnn (Brad) Baumgartner of Arlington and Cristen Brown of Strawberry Point; great-grandchildren, Ty Brown, Jacob Brown, Jordan Baumgartner, Christopher Baumgartner and Sydney Baumgartner; and one sister, Ann Starcevich of Cedar Rapids.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Allan; an infant daughter, Elizabeth; two brothers, Ed and Gerald Vinton; and one sister, Betty Franz.
A special thank you to Dr. Craig Thompson and the staff of the Strawberry Point Lutheran Home for the loving care they gave to Mom.
